My first hike with Solemates, in September 1999, was also "Kahana Valley." The lunch-and-turn-around point was the saddle right to the left of the top of the ridge coming down in our direction about 2/3 of the way to the righthand side of the picture (looks like a little climb to the left would reach an albizia tree I don't remember being there). I hiked there with the group at least once more, and once we tried but were turned back by a thunderstorm, lightning flashing here and there, seemingly more here than there.
