Map and Profiles

This is a live Google map; zoom in or out, change map type, whatever. This shows two counterclockwise Kūlepepamoa--Hawaii Loa loops, for orientation. Kulepeloop10 takes the earlier trail down to Niu Valley, and kulepel.p the later trail. (It also shows one of my major hiking goofs. I was leading a first-timer with the Wednesday group and I missed the trail down, not realizing I had done so until we reached the Hawaii Loa parking lot!) Click on those names in the map list to blank them out and see the (rather ragged) Niu Valley track clearly.

Like the map above, these profiles of the Niu Valley hike result from much editing of the .gpx file. It could use a lot more editing (resulting in a shorter distance calculation) but it gets to be more than I can handle. My new Magellan gets awfully confused in some places! (Well, even more so the old one; I can't have climbed Kūlepeamoa the way the green track shows!)
