I think that's Ron that the clumsy photographer cut off on the right, followed by Kelvin, Janice, Dudley, ?, ?, Dawn, Toyoko?, Vince, ?, ?, ?, Yuki?, four more ?, and more to come.
Below is a regathering along the trail during the 2007 version (so many same faces--John, Vince, David, Leonard (missed it this time), Brian, Tina, Lynn, Yuki?, Willy?, Jim?, etc.--suggests people don't tire of this hike), and a "Tracking Soles" write-up from 2002, the first time I did the hike, I think, gives a hint how much participation has picked up.
"Tracking Soles:
"About 14 hikers gathered at Aiea park for the Kalauao stream adventure. Clint was welcomed back to the group, and we were off under clear skies. After reaching the ridge trail junction, we took a side ridge to start down to the stream. The side ridge offers some splendid panoramas of Pearl Harbor, the Waianaes, and the Koolaus, as we move through some native forest. Reaching the stream, we headed upstream to a nice lunch spot. The stream was almost dry, making for easy crossings and no mud. After lunch, we headed back downstream. The waterfall area under the big trees was beautiful in the mid-day sun, and we enjoyed many banyans, royal palms, and other interesting trees as we continued. Then we started the steep ascent to continue back to the main trail and our cars. Also, on May 24 about 15 people gathered on Waikiki Beach for our evening picnic and moonlight stroll. The only thing missing was the usual Friday night fireworks, which went up on Saturday for some reason. Twas beautiful to enjoy the ocean at sunset and the night lighting of the hotels as we walked by.
