May 14, 2014

The 2014 edition of this hike started out badly. As we gathered at the front parking lot from before 9:00 am rain of varying intensity continued to fall, continuing through Tom's talk at the start. I think a number of persons decided that it wasn't their day to hike, and headed elsewhere.

In the end, it turned out not to be that bad. The rain let up just about 9:30 and we even had some sun at times as it became a warm and humid day. The trail was very wet, of course, and Tom cut the hike short, although a number of hikers did push on to the usual lunch area. (See Kelvin's photos.)

As I was getting back to the inner parking area, the rain started again, getting fairly heavy about the time I was able to duck under my hatchback.
